Certifications and Trainings

I basically suck at doula interviews. There, I said it. Are you surprised? Sometimes I am. Maybe it’s my personality? I want you to love me, but I don’t want to convince you to love me. I am laughing at myself as I write this.

Truthfully, it’s hard to put into words what I do, what my “style” is (I hate this question!), and what my experience has looked like over the past 10+ years. I am also in a really sweet spot where I don’t have to interview that often, which I think makes it worse!

In a recent interview, a family asked me what trainings I have done. I had a really hard time thinking so far back, so I decided to make a list of all the education pieces I have completed.

I am sure I have missed some, too, but here it is:

Bradley Method Teacher Training (The Bradley Method) 2015

Birth Doula Training (DONA) 2018

Rebozo Training for Doulas (Birth Education Center) 2019

Breastfeeding for Doulas (San Diego Breastfeeding Center) 2020

Spinning Babies Foundations (Spinning Babies) 2021

Building Resiliency for Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders (DONA) 2021

Significance in Childbirth to the Family (DONA) 2022

A More Balanced Postpartum Workshop (Beautiful One Midwifery) 2023

Racial Equity and Inequalities in Birthwork (DONA) 2023

Advanced Doula Training (DONA) 2023

Belly Binding (Megan Limon) 2024

Advanced Comfort Measures (ProDoula) 2024

Peanut Ball Training (San Diego County Midwives) 2024

Perinatal Nutrition for Practitioners (Needed x Bobbie) 2024

Maternal Mental Health Symposium for Birth Workers (Thrive Wellness Collective) 2025

Newborn Resuscitation (Baby’s Breath) 2025

NICU Doula Training (The NICU Doula) 2026

All Hail to the Queen Placenta (Baby’s Breath) 2026

Professional Prenatal and Postpartum Nutrition Certification (The Food Doula) 2026

At this point, I have had over 100 doula clients and about 600 families complete my birth education series. I am truly so thankful.

And while experience and numbers are cool, the most important thing is how you connect with a doula. Feeling safe, heard, and cared for will always be more valuable than any certification or training.
